If you are experiencing specific eye health issues or have a known eye condition, it is best to go to an ophthalmologist. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors who specialize in eye and vision care, and they can diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions, including performing surgery if necessary. On the other hand, if you simply need a routine eye exam, prescription for glasses or contact lenses, or have general concerns about your vision, an optometrist would be the appropriate choice. Optometrists are trained to provide primary vision care and can also diagnose and treat some common eye conditions. **

In most cases, a student can be excused from school for an optometrist appointment. However, it is important to follow the school's policies and procedures for excused absences. This may involve providing a note from the optometrist or parent/guardian, and notifying the school in advance of the appointment. It is always best to communicate with the school and make arrangements for the missed class time. **

If you are looking to have a routine eye exam or need a prescription for glasses or contact lenses, you should see an optometrist. Optometrists are trained to perform eye exams, diagnose and treat common eye conditions, and prescribe corrective lenses. However, if you have a more serious or complex eye condition, or if you have a specific medical issue related to your eyes, you should see an ophthalmologist. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors who specialize in eye and vision care, and they are able to diagnose and treat a wider range of eye conditions, perform surgery, and provide more specialized care. **

Ophthalmologists are medical doctors who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and can perform surgery. They have completed medical school and a residency in ophthalmology, allowing them to provide a full range of eye care services, including prescribing medication and performing surgery. Optometrists, on the other hand, are healthcare professionals who provide primary vision care, including performing eye exams, prescribing glasses and contact lenses, and treating certain eye conditions. They have completed a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree, but they are not medical doctors and cannot perform surgery. **
