Ethanol, commonly known as alcohol, can be used as a local anesthetic for minor procedures. It has a numbing effect when applied directly to the skin or mucous membranes. However, it is not typically used as a general anesthetic for surgeries or medical procedures that require loss of consciousness. Other medications are more commonly used for general anesthesia due to their ability to provide a deeper level of sedation and pain control. **

Your dentist or oral surgeon will also provide you with post-operative care instructions and pain management options to help minimize any discomfort after the procedure. **
